Ferrari California T information
Ferrari, staying ahead of the curve, decided to revive its Ferrari California launched back in 2009, with a revised version, now the Ferrari California carries a letter T as a complement to its name, for which all car lovers, it can only mean one thing, the California has become turbo.
This convertible with removable top has received a turbo engine that elevates it in the echelon of performance and fuel efficiency, with a smooth but powerful ride that appeals to any driver of refined tastes, public to which Ferrari generally addresses.
As has been the case for some time, the California T is the result of the collaboration between the Italian automotive design house Pininfarina and Ferrari engineers who dedicated themselves to making this spectacular design tangible. It has gone through numerous revision processes from which we obtain this wonderful final product desired by the public.
This car is the most modest that Ferrari offers, but it is an exquisite convertible to drive daily but that will leave more than clear its heritage if some weekend you dare to take it to the track. It is the recommended model for anyone who always had between the eyebrows to get a Ferrari.
A convertible that offers a luxurious interior ideal for long trips, a two-seater with luggage space that meets the needs of a demanding driver who wants a vacation with much of the Italian style to which the brand has accustomed us.
After all, when someone decides on a Ferrari what they are looking for is a portion of that unmistakable style that has characterized Ferrari over the years and that in large part is given by its vast experience in racing. It evokes from Formula 1 to the 24 hours of Le Mans, competitions in which it has always stood out.
The most outstanding element of this redesign of the Ferrari California T is the introduction of its turbo engine, a twin-turbo V8 that becomes the new spoiled boy of the Italian house, and is that with its 3.8 liters of displacement is capable of reaching up to 560 horsepower, thanks to its revised air induction system.
This Italian cabrio is able to accelerate from zero to 100 in 3.7 seconds, and raise its revs up to 8000 where it delivers the total torque, which Ferrari claims is about 500 Newton/meter, which the driver can use whenever he wants.
Although Ferrari classifies this model as a 2+2 cabrio, its aerodynamic design is softer and almost makes it look like a coupe. It has curved lines that blend very well throughout the vehicle, this without sacrificing thermal efficiency as the front grille is huge to force air to the radiators that keep this V8 at optimum temperature.
The Ferrari California T incorporates a dynamic traction control that makes it very easy to drive for anyone. But if you are intrepid there is the option to disable all the electronic aids and let the power of this V8 out with the feeling that you are using a wild racing car. However, you will be able to stop with ease thanks to its ceramic brakes and 6-piston calipers, which in case of special equipment are provided by Brembo.
The Ferrari California T is equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and more than proven by Ferrari and has given very good results, however, this version has been adjusted differently as this is the most comfortable model of the Italian house, a model ideal for everyday use but still has all the power you may require.
The California T offers three driving modes, sport, comfort, and CTS-Off, the Sport, changes a little the suspension settings by adjusting it a little to harden it, and the exhaust sound becomes a little more aggressive. The Comfort mode is the softest, the suspension absorbs even the smallest bump and the exhaust is very quiet, but without losing personality. The CTS-Off mode has the same configuration as the sport mode, but the electronic aids of the computer are deactivated, giving total control to the driver.
The interior is the most luxurious and comfortable of Ferrari, this car is oriented more to daily use than to the tracks, but this does not mean that if you step on the bottom it will not respond. We must remember that we have at our disposal 560 horsepower eager to go out and that are put on the asphalt by 245 millimeters tires on the front axle and 285 millimeters on the rear.
In terms of entertainment, the Ferrari California T is equipped with a powerful sound system and excellent soundproofing that make us appreciate its quality very easily.
This aerodynamic convertible was revised by engineers to further increase the efficiency of its lines, this added to the turbo engine, consumption was reduced to 10.1 liters per 100 kilometers in mixed mode. Although if you can afford a Ferrari California T, perhaps the consumption is not a concern, these are very good numbers that few competitors in the market can offer.
The front grille is intended, in addition to giving it an aggressive look, to allow airflow to the heat exchangers of each of the two turbochargers that keep the intake air at an ideal temperature for combustion to harness all the power.
The doors were smoothly carved in order to reduce aerodynamic drag, all this was achieved after complex flow analysis that Ferrari engineers perform with technology inherited from racing.
The driving position is a little higher in this model since the main use for which this sports car was designed is for everyday use, in which all eyes will be directed towards the car, a reaction that always causes a Ferrari.
