Lamborghini Huracán Performante information
The Huracán Performante is the most extreme of Lamborghini’s versions, raising the performance flag to levels never before seen in this vehicle segment. As the history of the brand has shown, and with the mentality of its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, they have always tried to stand out on a technical level.
This is no exception, so if we translate from Italian the term Performante, which means performance, that already gives us a clue as to the orientation of this vehicle. This model, the Huracán, is the first car produced after the absorption of Lamborghini by the Volkswagen Group, which is a point in favor of the company.
The lucky driver of one of these units will be able to count on the wild and visceral design of the Italians from Santa Agata Bolognese with the reliability and practicality of the Germans who are known worldwide for achieving fail-safe cars.
One only needs to get in and push the start button of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante to wake up its naturally aspirated V10 and realize that it is the most radical version of this model. It was designed with the sole purpose of performing on the track and giving us a driving experience as close as possible to a racing car, but legal for road use and even with Euro6 level 2 homologation.
The use of elements such as ultra-light materials and new technologies patented by Lamborghini and its team of engineers is not ruled out. Anyone who is a fan of this brand knows how much fun it is to drive one of its cars, but this is the exception. The engineers definitely thought of a racing car for everyday use, which is fantastically evidenced by the elements of the interior, of supreme Italian quality and that remind us of the fine hands involved in its elaboration process.
This car definitely raises the flag as far as supercars are concerned, it is a new concept that implements the same Lamborghini V10 engine, but tuned to produce much more power. It includes the use in most of the body elements of Lamborghini’s patented forged carbon fiber composite that makes it lighter.
This V10 engine with multi-point direct injection and Lamborghini’s IDS system which stands for Direct Stratified Injection. This allows that with 5.2 liters of displacement, we can have a power of 640 horsepower at 8000 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 600 Newton at 6500 revolutions with a dry sump lubrication system that lowers the center of gravity of the vehicle.
With a power-to-weight ratio of 2.15 kilograms per horsepower, a slightly lower ratio than its big brother the Aventador, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante offers a top speed of over 325 kilometers per hour, although there are no official Lamborghini figures, and acceleration from 0 to 100 in 2.9 seconds.
Quite impressive numbers for a vehicle of this category, and Lamborghini claims that its powerful brakes will take you from 100 kilometers per hour to a complete stop in 31 meters, an incredible distance. It will guarantee you powerful braking in an emergency either in track environments, for which this car is clearly intended, or for an emergency in everyday situations.
The Lamborghini Huracán Performante mounts an electronically controlled integral transmission with a mechanical self-locking rear differential, all this means that you can make the changes practically in milliseconds without losing traction on any of the wheels.
This dual-clutch gearbox uses LDF technology, which means Lamborghini Doppia Frizzione of 7 gears in which one of the clutches mounts the even gears and the other clutch the odd ones.
The Lamborghini Performante is equipped with two safety systems, one active and one passive, active safety involves crumple zones designed by the company to absorb impacts in the event of a collision and avoid transmitting the force to the monocoque.
Passive safety, which is the one that has direct contact with the driver through the steering wheel, refers to a stability control system for difficult situations, in addition to front and side airbags and a new airbag for the knees that Lamborghini is implementing.
With regard to the internal finishes we are sure that the company’s intention was to reinforce the character of this track-oriented model, but making it comfortable for everyday use as the seats offer a fairly comfortable driving position.
A good part of the interior fittings are made with Lamborghini’s new carbon fiber composite as well as leather or alcantara depending on the customer’s choice. But the company’s intention is to offer the lightest materials on the market to reduce weight.
The revisions that the Huracán model underwent to bring it to the Performante version were all oriented to high performance, the front and rear spoilers were completely made of the carbon fiber compound exclusively used by Lamborghini.
This consists of distributing the fibers of the material differently in the mold to reduce the total amount used by up to half, obviously with the purpose of reducing the total mass of the components.
They are designed in such a way as to take advantage of the car’s active aerodynamics system to increase or decrease downforce depending on driving conditions. Also another element that underwent a redesign were the tires, which were reduced in weight and mount the new Pirelli P Zero Corsa specially designed for this type of use so wild.
All these aerodynamic improvements are managed by Lamborghini’s patented ALA system which stands for Lamborghini Active Aerodynamics. It analyzes the speed and airflow across the surface of the car and adjusts the configuration of the spoilers and rear deflector to improve cornering grip and thus obtain maximum speed over the entire course.
