Lamborghini Huracán Spyder information
All fans of the automotive world know the legendary rivalry between Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini, which unleashed one of the biggest controversies between the brands of the bull and the horse.
Legend has it that Ferruccio Lamborghini complained to Enzo Ferrari about the unresistant clutch of one of his Ferrari units and, determined, assured him that he could build a better car.
A little more than half a century later and with an extensive track record in competition and designing avant-garde super sports cars and sales leaders, we can see the fruit of this competition with the Lamborghini Huracán Spyder LP 610. This is the latest Cabrio of the Italian brand of the fighting bull with headquarters in Santa Agata Bolognese.
Which with its aggressive aerodynamic design gives us an idea of the driving experience, we will go through if we decide to get our hands on one of these successor units of the now extinct Gallardo.
If you want a sports car that looks like a fighter jet, but that you can use on a daily basis, the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder is for you, with very comfortable seats and very wide levels of adjustment, it is one of the most comfortable supercars on the market.
Being a convertible you would think that torments the external noise, but it is not the case, this Lamborghini is very well thought aerodynamically so that with the hood stowed enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride.
With the LDF gearbox and its precise and high-torque shifts you should pay attention to the speedometer, as the power of this cabrio can get you into trouble, but it is certain that you will do it smiling.
This convertible is one of the most attractive options on the market, and if you are not the Ferrari type, definitely the option to consider is this Lamborhini Huracan Spyder LP 610, which with that name is a guarantee of strong emotions.
The Lamborghini Huracán Spyder LP610 is offered with a single naturally aspirated, 90-degree V10 engine with multi-point injection and a displacement of 5.2 liters. Capable of generating a maximum power output of 580 horsepower at 8000 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 540 Newton per meter at 6500 revolutions, it boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.2 kg per horsepower. It has an unladen weight of about 1422 kilograms.
This V10 engine uses a type of dry sump lubrication that allows reducing the height of the engine, to place it lower inside the vehicle and lower the center of gravity. This makes it more maneuverable in tight curves and also thanks to the direct injection system used by Lamborghini. Emissions were thus reduced to achieve Euro 6 Level 2 homologation.
The chassis structure is an efficient combination of carbon fiber and aluminum making it a structure with high torsional rigidity, but at the same time very light. The Huracán Spyder’s V10 is capable of taking it from 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds, which shows how successful the combination of large engine and lightweight design is. The top speed claimed by Lamborghini for the Spyder is 324 kilometers per hour.
The Lamborghini Huracán Spyder retains the same dimensions of its coupe sibling, with a length of 4.5 meters, a width of 1.94 meters with the mirrors retracted and a height of 1.2 meters from the ground excluding the fixed rear wing.
The gearbox mounted on this Lamborghini model is a 7-speed automatic gearbox with double clutch, called LDF, from the Italian acronym for Lamborghini Doppia Frizzione, and electronically controlled, which has a mechanical self-locking differential. What all this means is that all the torque that the V10 spits out can be instantly harnessed by the driver when he or she puts the pedal to the metal.
The changes are operated by the driver with large metal paddles located behind the steering column, which in the case of this vehicle is electrically assisted and very smooth. This Lamborghini could easily be an everyday car. With its Lift system, the front of the vehicle can be lifted to negotiate speed bumps without compromising the beautiful bodywork.
On the steering wheel is the ANIMA button, an acronym for Advance Network Intelligent Management, a control system that makes it very easy to select the three driving modes programmed by Lamborghini, the Strada, Sport and Corsa. By selecting these driving modes the car automatically adjusts elements such as the engine, exhaust sound, transmission, suspension stiffness and aerodynamic settings.
Traditional analog gauges are now replaced by a 12.4-inch LED TFT screen that displays all the information needed by the driver, revs, speed, oil pressure and tire pressure. The interface to control the navigation system, everything is concentrated in one place to avoid distractions while driving.
The front end is very visually appealing, with two huge gills that draw air in and channel it to the cooling system, and LED headlights designed exclusively for this generation that look very attractive. The rear is adorned by huge exhaust outlets that reproduce the symphony of the deliciously intoned Italian V10 and are located at the ends of the rear air dam.
Just behind the headrests are racing car-style protrusions that, in addition to reducing turbulence, were used as a design element, painted black to make the car’s stress line look a little lower, a very clever solution.
With virtually no rear hood, there is very little that the Italians let us see in this model, and is that with the proportions that has this car make it look smaller than it really is, but nevertheless is a car easily usable in urban environments.
This body is supported on the asphalt by huge 19-inch wheels on both axles and through its design let us see the huge steel discs and 8-piston calipers and cast aluminum.
