Mercedes AMG C43 Cabrio information
The Germans of Mercedes-Benz in this new season present us with the Mercedes AMG C43 Cabrio, which mounts the same engine of its younger brother, but with a removable canvas top that gives us the possibility to enjoy a ride under the open sky.
Even being the most economical model with the AMG seal of approval, the C43 Cabrio has much of that high-performance attitude of the Affalterbach, characteristic of cars bearing that suffix, after undergoing a virtually total redesign of its exterior aesthetics.
It is a tempting option being that car that is above the Mercedes without the AMG seal but that is not at the level of performance, nor cost of the huge V8 of their big brothers.
Definitely, it is worth trying this car to feel a hint of the experience offered by a car tuned by these experts, as this model underwent a very successful overall redesign that keeps its series in force several years after its launch to the public.
This younger AMG sibling is a very tempting convertible to try, with its V6 Biturbo that responds so well, this transmission so pleasant, is a guarantee of a pleasant ride for the crew wherever you mobilize. With revised exterior lines and an interior updated to the new technological era, this Mercedes AMG C43 Convertible is an excellent base to get you into the world of AMG and consider it as a first purchase.
Safety was revised and reinforced in this model to meet the latest standards and give a sense of absolute tranquility to the driver who wants to travel alone or with family. It definitely meets all expectations for an everyday car that will attract all eyes wherever you leave it parked. After all, it is a Mercedes Benz with AMG heritage, a suffix that demands respect from whoever looks at it.
This new version of the C43 AMG mounts a 3-liter displacement engine in a V6 Biturbo configuration with 367 horsepower, in a rev range that goes from 5500 and up to 6000.
It delivers a maximum torque of 520 Newton at the throttle available between 2000 and 4200 revolutions per minute. This results, according to Mercedes, in a 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.8 seconds.
The model registers a top speed limited to 250 kilometers per hour, despite the fact that the removable roof system of this Mercedes Benz adds a weight of 135 kilograms over the hardtop version.
This extra weight is not a problem, since Mercedes reinforced the chassis with a new technology implemented in this car called “Dynamic Body Control”, which is crucial to maintain the torsional rigidity of the vehicle and its precision and firmness in the curves.
It’s no surprise to anyone that a twin-turbo V6 can never sound as brutal as a powerful 8-cylinder. But given the technology implemented by AMG this engine can stand firm against some of the much more powerful V8s on the market.
It seems to have unlimited power, but with the advantages of a reduced consumption that, in a combined cycle, yields a consumption of 8.5 liters per 100 kilometers, which is not little, but they are good numbers for a car of these characteristics, performance and weight.
This car is equipped with the 4 Matic transmission of Mercedes Benz like the hardtop model, is a 9-speed automatic gearbox and dual clutch that reduces the overall consumption of the vehicle achieving figures of carbon dioxide emissions 190 grams per kilometer. These figures are achieved with the contribution of the Start/Stop system that turns off the engine when it stops somewhere, such as a traffic light.
It also equips a new technology that decouples the transmission from the engine to save fuel when the car carries enough inertia, such as in situations of going down hills. This box is equipped with a Mercedes Benz AMG Performance all-wheel drive system, which was fine-tuned by the firm’s tuning specialists.
It has a configuration that sends more torque to the rear axle with 69% and the remaining 31% to the front to achieve a sporty and dynamic handling feel despite being all-wheel drive. On the other hand, the vehicle’s electronics with the Ride Control system offers damping hardness adjustment in three levels, progressively more aggressive.
Some elements of the front end of the vehicle are shared with the V8 model and big brother of the C43, the C63. Another element shared with the coupe version are the brakes, with 360-millimeter self-ventilated carboceramic discs at the front and 320 millimeters at the rear, which is enough to stop this car that weighs about 2,400 kilograms.
This sports car offers a great design that is consistent with all the new aesthetic line being used by Mercedes Benz and is very elegantly sporty, a little more aggressive than previous models. This convertible has dimensions of 4.60 meters long, 1.81 meters wide and 1.41 meters high. It was retouched with more aggressive elements such as spoilers and sportier wheels.
Also certain aerodynamic cooling elements were added such as rear air diffusers and brake vents on the front wheels. Internally, the Mercedes AMG c43 also looks very well designed, with high quality finishes characteristic of the German brand.
The new ergonomic elements are welcome. Convertibles have a bad reputation for being uncomfortable, but this is not the case, in the center console is located a 10.5-inch touch screen from which you control the entire entertainment and navigation system.
The trunk, when the vehicle has the roof deployed reaches 360 liters of storage capacity. When the car has the top closed the exterior noise is very well canceled due to the acoustic insulation that was made to the entire cabin. On the road and at cruising speed, it is never difficult to converse with the occupants of the vehicle.
Mercedes Benz says that the multilayer canvas hood can be stowed in just over 20 seconds and driving at a speed of up to 30 kilometers per hour.
