Mercedes V-Class information
In the automotive world what is known as a minivan, is nothing more than the technical way of calling a light van for passenger use. In the case of Mercedes Benz that position is occupied by the V-Class and which is a leader in sales since its launch in 2014, but this year underwent a facelift.
It comes an update at the technological level which involves changes in design, two new engine variants, in the interior, and the variant known Marco Polo which is a van adapted for Camping by the factory that also experienced part of these improvements.
Mercedes-Benz wanted to strengthen a little the front design of the van so they made an effort to give it a more solid appearance with a new wider bumper, a new grille and more aggressive, which fits a little better to the new aesthetics of the company.
This Mercedes Benz V-Class is one of the most outstanding options in the minivan sector, as there are few in the competition that can match it. Coming from the German company, it is a practically safe purchase when it comes to comfort, technology and safety when driving.
This model has enough space for up to 8 seats, and a quite sporty driving mode, which is a difficult element to see in this type of vehicles that are commonly described as boring.
With a luxurious interior and practically permanently connected to the internet, as well as to all the vehicle’s systems. It is also interesting to test the Marco Polo version, which comes fully equipped for weekend camping, it could even be classified as a small Motor Home, as it has everything you need to experience a pleasant road trip.
In this version, the V-Class receives a new 4-cylinder diesel engine with two power ratings, the first of 190 and the second of 239 horsepower that the company claims is smoother and quieter. This translates into greater occupant comfort when experiencing a long road trip.
The traditional configuration of this 2.0-liter engine offers 190 horsepower and a maximum torque of 440 Newton per meter, yielding data for fuel consumption in urban cycle ranging from 5.9 to 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers. The 239 horsepower version offers a torque of 500 Newton/meter, giving us the possibility of achieving a 0 to 100 in 7.9 seconds and a speed of 220 kilometers per hour.
The van offers space for up to 8 people with their luggage and can be easily moved given the power offered by its engines. If ever, you need even more space, the seats can be completely removed with 2.5 effective load meters in the extra long version.
It is possible to load large objects inside the vehicle in the extra long version, and if you completely remove the rear seats you have up to 5010 liters available for luggage. It should be noted that this car is offered in three versions, the extra long version, the long or compact, and with the possibility of mounting 17, 18 or 19-inch wheels.
For the first time the Mercedes Benz 9G-Tronic shift technology is offered, which consists of a 9-speed automatic transmission and high technology that offers a very smooth and comfortable ride, in which virtually no changes are felt.
But despite being a comfortable ride, when you step on the accelerator you receive an even and powerful torque distribution that sends just the right amount of power to the rear-wheel drive of this truck, which is offered in all versions. Internally, all versions have similar equipment, such as panoramic sunroof that offers a very wide view at the time of a ride.
You find ambient lighting for the driver’s seat, which does not affect the passengers and receive the pilot and co-pilot in the cabin, is offered in three colors that Mercedes Benz calls Neutral, Solar and Polar.
It mounts luxury seats in the passenger cabin, with the option of mounting inflatable seats to better adapt to the figure of each passenger when in use and to deflate them to achieve the flattest possible surface when converting the cabin into a bed.
The tailgate can be opened in two stages, making it easier to open in tight spaces, and a folding table can be included. It has a Burmester surround sound system, with 15 speakers positioned in such a way as to guarantee Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and with optional external sound cancellation.
As a design highlight, we can include the dimensions of the vehicle with 4.90 meters high and approximately 1.92 meters high that make it suitable for most subway garages. This V-Class meets many of the design specifications of a minivan.
It is offered with three body versions, the Avantgarde version, which offers different body colors, and slightly larger wheels. The Exclusive version has wheels with thinner spokes, chrome trim, tinted windows and a slightly more aggressive grille.
Also if you wish, and can afford it, you can opt for the AMG version that tweaks elements such as suspension and steering to achieve a more active dynamic response, which is appreciated in a vehicle of these characteristics.
This family-friendly car features Mercedes M-Connect technology that allows you to connect your device with virtually any smartphone. If you are at home or traveling you can navigate online, and access the vehicle’s central to consult important data, such as mileage, tire pressure, the amount of fuel available, breakdown management or accident prevention and maintenance system.
